Construction on the next phase of the City of Boulder multimodal
28th Street Transportation Improvement Project, affecting the general
area of 28th and Pearl streets, began on September 4, 2007 and finished
up in January, 2008.
Improvements at 28th and Pearl included:
• Roadway widening on 28th between Pearl Street and Mapleton
Avenue for a shared bus, bike and right-turning vehicle lane;
• Added left-turn lanes at the intersection of 28th and Pearl
streets;
• Right-turn bypass lanes; and
• Raised pedestrian crossings at all street corners and a
mid-block pedestrian crossing on 28th and Spruce streets.
• Approximately 2000 feet of storm sewer pipe were replaced
in addition to the installation of 15 new inlets.
