The Denver Water Conduit #25 project was located on 9th and Hoyt Street, just east of 9th and Kipling in Denver. An old 48” valve and access vault located 20 feet below the street were removed and a new 60” valve was installed. Fifty feet of the old 60” concrete pipe was also replaced to accommodate two new access manholes, a drain manhole, and a new manhole for the new butterfly valve. The new concrete steel pipe, interior and exterior lined, was welded into place.
Concrete Works only had ten days to complete this entire project. While Lakewood High School was on spring break, 9th Avenue (the high school’s main access road) was completely closed for the work. Crews worked from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily to complete the project and reopen the road before school was back in session following their break.
